Located on the Matura River in Matura. Starts at the trail head on Thomas Trace.
You must park along the logging road just where the paved road ends. Secure parking is sometimes provided by CeciI, the watch man at the quarry site Camp The trail starts on the access road and continues into the forest along a well defined foot track. From here the trek to the river basin is 30 mins.
The hike goes up river for approx. 200 meters to the large mermaid pools. River crossings could be waist deep and must be supported by ropes. Good picnic areas and Pools are large for swimming. A return alternative route could be used to avoid river crossings Do not attempt this hike in flood conditions.
