Mt Tabor, Mt St Benedict

Historic Monastery built by Don Mayeul in 1918 just years after building the Mt St Benedict Monastery (1912). The Mt Tabor building site was 1000 ft above the Mt St Benedict Monastery and was constructed from Tapia. Very little remains of the building today. The hike to Mt Tabor starts at the top of St John Rd. Mt St Benedict. The trail passes through the pine forest and straddles the Ridge bordering Maracas St Joseph and Tunapuna. Views of Maracas Valley, El Tucuche to the north and Tamana, the central plain and Caroni swamp to the south. This hike is rated 2. Easy.
